Country Music in Hiawasee

Although this year's Georgia Mountain Fair and Fall Festival have both come and gone, the fun has not ended at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds.

On Saturday, November 25 the Fairgrounds will host the local band, Hiawassee Hayride, for a traditional country music show from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the newly - heated Anderson Music Hall.

General admission tickets are $10 each (free parking) and can be purchased at the gate or in advance by calling the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds office at (706) 896-4191. Tickets can also be purchased at the Towns County Chamber of Commerce office or by calling (706) 896-4966. For more information about this event, visit www.GeorgiaMountainFairgrounds.com

Hiawassee Hayride Band is composed of several musicians from the area and features Jerry Braswell, James "The Chief" Childers, Bill Cunningham and Jim Wood, who is also a member of the Georgia Mountain Fair Staff Band. The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds' Fiddlin' Howard Cunningham will also make an appearance during the show. Although the band will serve as the evening's headlining act, concert-goers will also enjoy some additional performances by other local musicians including The Powell Brothers, Pam

MacAfee, Emily Rogers, Beth Wood, Cody Hamilton and Brad Williams in the evening's line-up.

"The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds strive to showcase local talent, and we are so pleased to bring an event like this to our community," says Hilda Thomason, general manager of the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds.

"Anderson Music Hall has often served as a forum for local performers during our annual events like the Georgia Mountain Fair and Fall Festival. Now that it is equipped with HVAC, we are able to hold shows similar to this country music program throughout the entire year."

The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds is home to several popular events throughout the year including the Georgia Mountain Fair, the Georgia Mountain Bluegrass Festival, the Rhododendron Festival, the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival and Georgia's Official State Fiddlers' Convention. The Fairgrounds are located along the shores of beautiful LakeChatuge in the north Georgia mountain community of Hiawassee and offer 189 beautiful camp and RV sites, most with lake views. Sites are equipped with modern conveniences and are available year round.
